The trial included loads of up to 1,500 tonnes and covered standing starts on gradients along the route.
The agreement was announced on 9 February 2026 and forms part of the US freight operator’s fleet renewal programme.
The final locomotive was delivered at the turn of the year, concluding a fleet renewal programme launched after the termination of several leasing agreements.
Stadler will supply 35 diesel-electric EURO4001 locomotives to Turkish operator TCDD Taşımacılık, supporting freight capacity and emissions reduction on non-electrified routes.
The agreement was signed in the fourth quarter of 2025 and covers a multi-year programme with deliveries starting in 2027.

The locomotives are approved under Germany’s EBO regulations for internal works traffic and are intended for heavy industrial shunting operations on plant rail networks.
The contract confirms the tendency to lease more and more locomotives to passenger rail operators.
The approval also covers Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg and Poland, enabling multi-country operation across six European markets.
The locomotives are A17 and A10 variants and were formally received on 23 January at DPB Rail Technical Service GmbH’s site in Krieglach, Austria.
