The first locomotive was ceremonially handed over at Prague Terminal on 12 May 2026.
The contract also includes an option for up to eight additional trainsets.
The vehicle, a Class 387 operated by Southern, is the first to carry the red, white and blue GBR branding.
The locomotive will be used in push-pull operation with the 65 Talgo trainsets already on order for Germany.
The vehicles were refurbished with funding from Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
The locomotives are being prepared for entry into traffic.
