The rail freight operator will continue hauling construction materials from marine terminals to sites across London and the Southeast until 2031.

DB Cargo UK has signed a five-year contract extension with Day Group to manage aggregate transport and terminal operations. The agreement runs until 2031 and covers freight movements from marine sites at Cliffe Brett in Kent and Newhaven in East Sussex.

The carrier will move materials to inland terminals in Tolworth, Crawley, Purley, and Stewart’s Lane. Beyond inbound aggregates, the contract includes hauling construction waste from Stewart’s Lane to Tinsley in South Yorkshire and Stewartby in Bedfordshire.

DB Cargo UK handles the train offloading and ground operations at these locations. The service provides bulk transport for the construction sector across the London Borough of Croydon and Kingston Upon Thames. These flows rely on the operator’s existing Class 66 locomotive fleet and heavy-duty hopper wagons.
