Chick-fil-A Supply's new cold-storage facility is the ninth distribution center in its network, contributing to the restaurant chain's growing logistical capacity.

Chick-fil-A Supply has started operations at its first rail-served distribution center, located in Union Pacific’s Prime Pointe Industrial Park near Hutchins, Texas. The facility specializes in receiving potato products, such as waffle fries and hash browns, by rail from Oregon, ensuring a steady supply for over 200 regional Chick-fil-A restaurants in the Dallas area.

The 3,000-acre Prime Pointe Industrial Park, situated near major transportation hubs including four interstate highways and three airports, offers infrastructure for rail-connected distribution, warehouse, and manufacturing operations.

The center received its inaugural rail car on September 3, utilizing a combination of privately owned refrigerated boxcars and Union Pacific boxcars. Operations are expected to handle approximately six rail cars daily, each replacing the equivalent of three truckloads, effectively removing over 100 long-haul trucks from the road every week.

This project was developed over a 2.5-year period, requiring collaboration between multiple Union Pacific departments, including Operating, Real Estate, and Network Economic & Industrial Development teams. Union Pacific also provided operational and safety training for Chick-fil-A Supply staff to ensure efficient handling of rail cars.
