Norske tog has returned the first upgraded Class 72 train to passenger service after work at Filipstad.
The upgrade programme covers older rolling stock in the Norske tog fleet. Work on the first Class 72 included auxiliary converter upgrades, traction system overhaul, and correction of known faults and weak components.
Norske tog said cooling and ventilation measures were also included, as these systems had previously contributed to failures. The programme is intended to reduce technical faults and improve train availability.
Further Class 72 upgrades are already underway. Norske tog said the work involves cooperation with Vy and Dahlrail.
The company also reported progress on the N05 new local train programme. Test runs have resumed on the Dovre Line after a pause, with further runs planned over the coming weekends to collect data for software improvements.
The N05 testing programme involves Norske tog, Bane NOR, Alstom and Vy. Norske tog said the trains are being tested before entry into regular service in eastern Norway, while noting that delays remain possible during the testing phase.
