The project is approximately 85% complete.

The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Silver Line, a 26-mile regional rail project, is advancing toward passenger operations. The service, which will connect East Plano to DFW Airport’s Terminal B, is projected to open between late 2025 and early 2026.

Connecting seven cities—Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Dallas, Grapevine, Plano, and Richardson—the Silver Line adds 10 stations to DART’s existing network. The rail line crosses three counties, improving regional transport for passengers traveling across the area.

DART has divided the construction into three segments to manage the project’s scope. Segment C, covering Plano and Richardson, saw significant progress in late 2024, enabling vehicle testing to begin in the area. Testing in Segment A, which connects DFW Airport to Carrollton, is expected to commence by the end of January 2025. Segment B, encompassing North Dallas, remains under construction and is scheduled for end-to-end testing by summer 2025.

As construction progresses, DART continues to coordinate with regional transit authorities to improve connectivity. Future integration with Trinity Metro’s TEXRail and DCTA’s A-train will expand passenger options, linking the Silver Line with additional destinations, including Downtown Denton and Downtown Fort Worth.
